CEFTA: Food and Medicines Given Priority in Cross Border Transport

The countries of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) have approved a list of vital goods which should be given priority in cross-border transport, in order to secure adequate supply in Covid-19 crisis conditions.

This pertains to the food and the medical equipment which will be given priority on the so-called “green corridors”, set up to the end of achieving a greater efficiency of transport and a quicker border crossing for all goods.

“Green corridors” entail accelerated legal and medical procedures at certain border crossings which will be open for a 24/7 transport of goods.

The announcement of the arrival of goods to the border crossings will be carried out through the system of electronic data exchange between the customs administrations within the CEFTA.

The CEFTA Secretariat in Brussels says that the concept of “green corridors” will start being implemented on April 13.
