The bridge on the Magra River in Aula, on the Genoa-Florence road, collapsed on the afternoon of April 8.

The seven meters tall bridge on a first-grade road, which is otherwise very busy, but which has only seen freight vehicles in the past period, collapsed suddenly.

At the moment of the accident, ANSA reports, there were only two trucks on the bridge, and one driver was injured, according to the initial reports.

The bridge was 260-m long and the cause of the collapse is unknown.

In August 2018, 43 people died when a bridge collapsed in Genoa.
