This Saturday, the reconstruction of the existing facility and the construction of an additional one, which will serve as a new hospital for COVID-19 patients, began within the complex of the Military-Medical Center Karaburma in Belgrade, the Ministry of Defense announced.

A full reconstruction of this facility and the construction of a new part is a donation by Termomont and its partners. Considering the purpose of the facility and the urgency of its construction, the works will be carried out in three shifts, 24 hours a day, so that the facility would be completed on April 21.

The owner and director of Termomont, Dejan Burcul, pointed out that, in line with the needs of the Ministry of Defense, the company and its partners had decided to fully reconstruct and extend a new part of the facility for the hospital within the MMC Karaburma.

– We are talking reconstruction of a 1,000-m2 facility and extension of more than 300 m2, where a new access road of around 200 meters will also be built – Burcul said and added that the task was not at all easy, due to the short deadlines.

– In line with the tactical and technical requirements we've been given, the donation is worth around RSD 30 million – said Burcul.

The head of the MMC Karaburma, Lieutenant Colonel Milan Mladenovic, pointed out that the reconstruction of a facility for the purpose of having new accommodation capacities for the treatment of COVID-19 patients was in progress.

– The plan is for the facility to be able to take in around 70 COVID-19 patients with light and medium symptoms – Mladenovic emphasized.

According to him, the works on this hospital facility are in progress, and, as soon as they are finished, medical equipment and other necessary devices will be installed, following which the hospital should take in its first patients.
