Innovation by Corten Art – First Disinfection Tunnels Expected Toward the End of the First Week of April
To the end of protection from and suppression of the Covid-19 pandemic, contaminated surfaces in direct contact with potential patients must be disinfected.
The disinfection of contaminated outdoor surfaces, especially in big cities, is expensive and requires a large number of workers and mechanization.
Corten Art has developed a disinfection tunnel, a light stainless steel structure equipped with atomizers, which spray the disinfectant in the form of micro droplets.
– The system has many advantages, including a drastic reduction in the consumption of water and disinfectants, up to 15 times compared to traditional disinfection processes. The atomizers guarantee an even distribution of the disinfectant on the treated surface, while at the same time minimizing the penetration of moisture in clothes and footwear. After going through the disinfection tunnel or a cabin, the user is sure that the possibility of contamination has been removed and that they can carry on with their activities safely – one of the company's owners, Bojan Lolic, says for eKapija.
With the help of subcontractors, up to 500 tunnels could be produced each month.
The company's project has been supported by the Innovation Fund. Our interviewee explains that Corten Art will develop a modular structure from surgical steel, where elements produced domestically and easily available elements are screwed together, with an automatic disinfection process.
– This enables the hiring of a large number of subcontractors, with minimal supervision of the production process. The current production capacities of Corten Art are 50 disinfection tunnels a month. By hiring subcontractors, the number of tunnels produced could increase tenfold – he points out.
The first disinfection tunnels are expected toward the end of the first week of April. In addition to the production itself, the documentation needs to be prepared as well, so that the product would be certified as soon as possible. As Lolic adds, the certification is necessary for the product to be safely put on the market.
– Disinfection tunnels will be used in busy locations. They are meant for everyone who is in contact with potential carriers of the virus. Disinfection tunnels are applicable in hospitals, companies with a large number of employees, markets, supermarkets, shopping centers, schools, faculties and other similar locations – the interviewee adds.
New bioethanol burner
Corten Art is a company from Sabac. Their activities entail laser cutting of sheet metal and pipes, press and roll folding, as well as TIG, MIG/MAG welding and products and semi-products.
Among other things, they've developed a new bioethanol burner, whose patent documentation is being prepared. As Lolic explains, these burners are applicable in bioethanol fireplaces, which, in addition to their decorative purpose, can be used for additional heating. The completion of the project of development of a new type of bioethanol fireplace is planned for December 2020.
– At the moment, this may sound pretentious, but Corten Art innovations will be developed in the fields of clean, renewable energy and intelligent energy solutions. Members of Corten Art's research team will work on developing new technologies and clean energy, “energy into gas”, where, instead of the commonly used fossil fuels, cheap “green” hydrogen will be produced from renewable sources – Bojan Lolic reveals.
