As he said, it is necessary to once again examine the remaining funds of the EU integration instruments, worth a total of EUR 20.8 million.
Varhelyi added that, based on the agreement with the Government of Serbia, a timeframe needs to be redefined for projects such as the gas connection between Serbia and Bulgaria and the biomass project with the development bank KfW, in order for those funds to be redirected. This could release another EUR 57.6 million, the commissioner added.
In his letters, Varhelyi emphasized that the European Commission also cooperated with international financial institutions in order to find the optimal solutions to the issues of liquidity and financial problems of the private sector, FoNet reports.
