Serbia imports 148,000 and exports 181,000 tons of vegetables in 2019
– In 2019, a total of nearly 148,000 tons of vegetables was imported, worth EUR 98 million – the CCIS says.
Serbia imported tomatoes from Albania, Greece and North Macedonia, onion bulbs and onions from the Netherlands, and watermelons and cantaloupes from Greece. Beans come from Kyrgyzstan, Poland and Bulgaria. Potatoes are imported from France and the Netherlands, garlic comes from China, and bell peppers are imported from Albania and Turkey.
Last year, we exported 181,000 tons of vegetables, worth around EUR 116 million, We mostly exported mixed frozen vegetables, around EUR 48 million, followed by dried vegetables (EUR 16 million), cucumbers (EUR 9.2 million), bell peppers (EUR 6.1 million), carrots (EUR 5.4 million) and tomatoes (EUR 4.6 million).
Domestic vegetables are mostly exported to the countries of the EU, in the amount of around EUR 64.6 million, and to the CEFTA countries, in the amount of around EUR 21.2 million. Serbian vegetables in the EU are mostly bought by Germany, Croatia, Italy and Hungary.
When it comes to fruit, the CCIS data show that we imported slightly over 286,000 tons of fruit. We mostly import from Turkey, Greece and Ecuador.
