KBF 2020: NOVASTON at the panel on the growth of the construction industry in Serbia
– According to the statistics, Belgrade is much lower than other capitals in the region when it comes to office space and logistics. We have started developing in these areas, and this will become apparent in the upcoming period, although the retail segment remains our primary focus – Mia Zecevic says.
In general, all sectors (retail office, logistics and residential) are showing a considerable improvement and growth. In the retail sector, we are looking at the opening of two big shopping centers – BW Gallery and Beo SC, which will bring Belgrade closer to other capitals in the region as the parameter area of retail space per 1,000 residents will reach approximately 300 m2.
– The key thing for the office space sector is the intensive development, primarily in New Belgrade. The current projects include the construction of more than 10 important office facilities. Once these open, the percentage of non-leased space will increase from the current 4-5% to 6-9%. The majority of the newly built space in 2020 is expected in the logistics sector, and the construction of the largest logistics center in Serbia, by CTP Invest, is in progress. The residential sector is on a constant rise – the number of projects being built, the supply, the demand, the price of a square meter, even in old buildings, are growing – pointed out Mladen Mladenovic, Senior Associate at Novaston Asset Management.
In addition to Novaston CEO Mia Zecevic, speakers at the panel include Robert Yahav, CEO of BIG CEE, Mustafa Kheriba, deputy CEO and director of Asset Management & Investment Solutions, ADFG, and Peđa Petronijević, CEO of GTC, and the panel will be led by Nebojša Nešovanović, Senior Director and Head of Valuation, SEE region, CBRE.
