Slovenian company expanding operations in Sombor – Employment of new workers planned
Siliko has been operating in Serbia since 2011, and they moved from Odzaci to Sombor two years ago.
According to Uros Kravos, the director of the Sombor-based company, they've gone from having three machines to 14 machines for the production of technical rubber for the automotive industry. He adds that another machine has recently arrived from Austria and that the plan is for there to be 19 by the end of the year.
Due to the nature of the technological process, around 100 production employees work in four shifts, and the production is halted only during the state holidays.
Kravos says that the only problem is the lack of qualified workforce and points out that a lot more workers will be needed in the upcoming period due to the expansion of the production.
– We need another 30 workers or so and we have big plans for the next three years. We plan to increase the number of employees from 200 to 230. Guma-S should be one of the larger companies in Sombor. We now deliver products to Slovenia, from where they are distributed to Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and China – Kravos says.
The largest local purchaser of rubber-products for home appliances is the Stara Pazova-based company Tiki. Guma-S points out that they got the BMW project for the new series 7 last year and that the assembly will be done here from 2023, and the products will be delivered directly to the German company.
Last year, the production was 50% higher than in 2018, and the plan is to produce 23 million pieces of technical rubber for the automotive industry this year, namely, for BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen.
Job interviews are carried out at the company each Wednesday. Training courses are organized, four workers have gone through the training through the local branch office of the National Employment Service, and people with disabilities have been employed as well.
