Yugoslav Film Archive Museum reopens
The works, which started in early December, entailed the replacement of all floor tiles in the entrance hall, the staircase and the atrium, which had been worn out after 30 years of use.
The entire lighting system has been replaced as well. Instead of 120 metal-halide and neon lights, 70 in the movie theater itself, modern LED lighting has been installed, with a much longer life cycle and better energy-saving characteristics.
The renovation entailed the adaptation of electrical installations for the new lighting and the projection booth, allowing for the installation of a modern DCP projector.
The interior has been changed as well, with dark and light sections switching places. The darker surfaces in the movie theater will contribute to the quality of the projections, thanks to a reduced reflection of light against the walls and the ceiling.
Furthermore, another two new rooms for exhibition activities have been arranged. Certain items which were part of the previous permanent exhibit and some that have never been shown due to the lack of space, will soon be available in the museum section, next to the now usual photos, posters, paintings and other items.
It has been announced that additional works are planned as well and that they will be carried out this year.
– We didn't want to make it too long, because of the audience, and we also had in mind the upcoming FEST, as we are a traditional host – he explains and adds that the works will continue this summer, when there are no screenings, it is announced on the film archive's website.
Due to the great public interest, an exhibit of drawings from Federico Fellini's “Book of Dreams”, which premiered at the film archive's facilities at 1 Uzun Mirkova Street, is now available at the renovated building in Kosovska Street.
