MIHAJLOVIC: Agreement on reconstruction of Valjevo-Vrbnica railway in April

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic, met this Thursday, February 13, with the first deputy director general of Russian Railways, Sergey Pavlov, to discuss the current and future infrastructure projects in rail transport in the presence of the ambassador of Russia to Belgrade, Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko.

– We also talked about new projects today, primarily about the continuation of the reconstruction of the Bar railway from Valjevo to Vrbnica and the construction of a single dispatch center. We expect the agreement on the reconstruction of the railway to be signed this April during the visit of the director general of RZD, when we should also lay down the capsule, marking the beginning of the construction of the dispatch center – she said.

Mihajlovic added that RZD was considering the proposition of forming a joint company for gas train engines in Serbia, which would be of great significance for the Serbian economy.

Sergey Pavlov added that the works on the high-speed railway section between Stara Pazova and Novi Sad were going as planned and that it was a part of the traffic corridor where train speed would reach 200 km/h.

Mihajlovic reminded of the works on the largest and most difficult project in this part of Europe – the construction of the high speed railway between Belgrade and Budapest and added that train speed on the section between Belgrade and Novi Sad, beginning with 2021, would also be 200 km/h, the ministry says in the press release.
