The agreement on the completion of the Batajnica interchange, an investment worth EUR 9.6 million, was signed on February 13 at the municipality of Zemun. The agreement was signed by the acting director of the PE Corridors of Serbia, Zoran Babic, and the director of the construction department of the company Strabag, Dragan Rsumovic.

The project of the construction of the Batajnica interchange is financed from the credit of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and entails the construction of traffic routes, including a bridge over the railway, infrastructural installations and traffic signalization.

The construction of the traffic routes will enable the connecting of the future intermodal terminal Batajnica with a network of local city and state roads. The project-technical documentation which defines the works on completing the Batajnica interchange was prepared in 2018 and 2019.

The project covers the traffic routes within the Batajnica interchange, namely, a part of the Batajnicki Blvd to the intersection with the connection to Kralja Mihaila Zetskog Street and the local road, the first-grade traffic route from the intersection with Batajnicki Blvd to the intersection with the access to the intermodal terminal, including the completion of the bridge over the railway and a parallel twin bridge, local road 1 and local road 3.

On December 23, 2019, on the e-portal of the EBRD, the electronic opening of the bids for the completion of the Batajnica interchange was carried out.

The president of the urban municipality of Zemun, Dejan Matic, says that its construction is important not just to the people of Batajnica, but also for the numerous investors in the industrial zone.

After the agreement was signed, Matic told the press that he was informed by representatives of the Corridors of Serbia and Strabag that the works would begin after a few days.

According to the press release, the Corridors of Serbia will try to have the works completed in 2020.
