In order for Novi Sad to attract larger number of tourists, and for the visitors to obtain an adequate guide service and information on cultural contents in the city, souvenir shops, exchange offices, restaurants and hotels, opening of the Tourist Info Center on the Danube's bank is in the pipeline.

That is one of the campaigns included in the "Revival of the Danube's Banks" project that is being implemented by non-government organization "The Urban Institute" from the USA in association with the city of Novi Sad. As "eKapija" learns from "The Urban Institute", USAID has granted 90,000 USD for that project.

The "Revival of the Danube's Banks" project consists of three parts. The first part anticipates installation of a small prefabricated facility in the vicinity of the pier, in which the Tourist Info Center will be settled. People in "The Urban Institute" say that the tender for erecting that facility will be announced in February 2010, and that the works should start already in March.

The second phase includes installation of the information and tourist signaling, while the third and final phase anticipates placing of panels and boards for marking the monuments of culture of Novi Sad.

Realization of the "Revival of the Danube's Banks" project is a part of MEGA programme "Stimulation of Municipal Economic Development" of "The Urbane Institute".
