The most modern medicines for lung and prostate cancer, malignant melanoma, multiple sclerosis and neuroblastoma will become available to patients in late March or early April, announced Serbian Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar.

As he pointed out, this is a list of the 16 latest innovative medicines, which have already been approved by the board of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), and are also expected to be approved by the Government of Serbia next week, Vecernje Novosti reports.

The acting director of the NHIF, Sanja Radojevic Skodric, said that the public procurement procedure was to follow.

The list features the Nobel Prize-winning medicine for the metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer, which extends the patient's life from eight to 30 months, while also helping increase the quality of life.

The state has set aside RSD 5 billion for these medicines.
