A new model from Fiat Kragujevac, Giardiniera, will become available in 2022 or 2023 at the latest, and the debut will take place at the Geneva Motor Show 2021, Italian media report.

The long awaited model from Kragujevac, which will replace Fiat 500L, whose manufacture started in 2012, should become commercially available in two years, and the official presentation is scheduled for 2021, at one of the largest car shows in the world, the Geneva Motor Show, according to specialized car magazines from Italy. As they report, Pietro Gorlier, the Chief Operating Officer of Fiat Chrysler for Europe, Middle East and Africa, is expected to reveal an operating plan for the European factories of this automotive giant.

According to the Italian media, Fiat Giardiniera should be 4.2 to 4.3 meters long and have five doors. It would thereby cover two car segments, including the B segment, where Fiat used to be very prominent, while at the moment it practically has no such models after Grande Punto was discontinued, as was Fiat Punto before it, another car that was manufactured in Kragujevac. However, thanks to its length and its spacious cabin, the model would also cover the C segment, the so-called “Golf” segment of mid-sized cars.

This is a model which is yet to appear and which is based on the best selling model of the Italian-American corporation, Fiat 500. It was announced last year when the corporation's five-year plan was presented.

According to the available information, Fiat Giardiniera would be an extended version of Fiat 500, with space for five passengers and a slightly larger trunk.

As this kind of model is expected to be in great demand, it is believed that the capacities of the Kragujevac factory would be filled to a great degree. The capacity of Fiat's factory in Sumadija is projected at 200,000 vehicles a year. The Italian media announced that, in 2018, Fiat sold over 61,000 of 500L cars, produced in Kragujevac, citing specialized websites which follow the automotive industry, but there is no official confirmation of this. The Kragujevac factory is currently only producing vehicles to meet the demand, and therefore the production stopped on several occasions in the past year. The latest pause took place in early December, due to the winter leave, and the production recommenced on January 15.

According to the Italian media, in addition to Giardiniera, an all-road vehicle in the B segment, an augmented Panda Cross, might be manufactured in Kragujevac as well.

As announced earlier, the production of this vehicle might start in late 2020. According to the Italian media, the model should be 4.1 meters long, as opposed to Panda Cross's 3.7 meters.

It should also have a larger trunk (400 liters) and five seats. According to these announcements, the annual manufacture should amount to around 50,000 cars.
