The reconstruction of 19 healthcare facilities, the contracted value of which amounts to 10,333,000,000 dinars, is in progress in Serbia. The reconstruction of 15 healthcare facilities is being prepared and should start during 2020, the Public Investment Management Office told eKapija.

The most important projects in the field of healthcare in 2020 are the construction of a new facility of the University Children's Clinic, better known as Tirsova 2, the reconstruction of the Institute for Mother and Child Healthcare in Belgrade, the continuation of the works on the Clinical Center of Vojvodina and the repair of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases.

The works on the construction of Tirsova 2 are planned to begin in the spring of 2020.

– The value of the project, which entails the construction and a full equipping of a facility of 30,000 m2, has been estimated at around EUR 60 million, whereas the time needed for the realization of the project has been estimated at three years – the Office said.

As for the reconstruction of the Institute for Mother and Child Healthcare, the Office says for our portal that the preparation of the project-technical documentation is in progress.

– The plan is for the first phase of the works (the outer layer of the facility) to begin in the first quarter of 2020.

The reconstruction of the Clinical Center of Vojvodina, the estimated value of which is EUR 34 million, is expected in February 2020.

Let us remind that the reconstruction of the Clinical Center of Vojvodina began three years ago. So far, four clinics have been reconstructed, and works are being carried out on a total of seven clinics at the moment.

The long awaited and sorely needed reconstruction of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases in Belgrade will also take place. According to the plan, the works on the repair of the clinic should start in early February.

– The plan includes the reconstruction of a part of the complex of the clinic and the construction of a whole new facility. At the moment, the urban project for the location of the new building of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases, where the entire clinic is to be moved, is being prepared. Considering that the planning documents are only just being prepared and that the construction of the new facility therefore cannot start before the end of 2021 or be completed before 2023, and that the clinic needs to be operational under acceptable conditions in the meantime, the decision was reached to have a part of the complex repaired and to then move the clinic to the reconstructed facilities.

After the Clinic for Infectious Diseases is moved, the repaired facilities of the total gross area of 7,573 m2, covered by the first phase of the works, will be enabled for other compatible purposes within the operations of the Clinical Center, the Office explained.

The second phase entails the construction of a whole new facility where the entire clinic is to be moved. It is currently located in 6 facilities.

– The plan is to improve the operations of the clinic by unifying it within a single unit during the second phase, as the current arrangement is not optimal. The area of the new facility will be around 11,500 m2 – the Office said.

We also asked when the beginning of the construction of the new Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic Narodni Front in Bezanijska Kosa can be expected.

– The preparation of the planning documents is being finished and the preparation of the project-technical documentation for the construction of a whole new facility of this institution, which will be moved to a new location (Bezanijska Kosa) once the works are completed, is to start in 2020. The plan is for the construction of the new facility to start by the end of 2020. The equipment for this institution will be procured in the meantime, so that the quality of the healthcare would improve under the existing conditions. The value of the procurement, which is in progress, has been estimated at EUR 5.5 million – the Office says.

Let us remind that 4,215,000,000 dinars was invested in the reconstruction of health facilities in 2019, of which 3,338,000,000 dinars for the reconstruction and 887 million for the equipping.
