The 17.6-km section of the Milos Veliki highway from Surcin to Obrenovac has opened. This section will connect the entire 120-km stretch from Belgrade to Cacak by highway.

The new highway features a total of 12 bridge structures, with a span of 11 to 1,581 meters, as well as two large interchanges, Surcin and Obrenovac.

The largest bridge, near Obrenovac, 1,581 meters long and 29 meters wide, at the confluence of the Kolubara and the Sava, features 27 columns and 33 spans, and 88,000 cubic meters of concrete and over 11,500 tons of reinforcement are built into it.

Also, over 2.7 million cubic meters of sand and around 190,000 tons of asphalt are built into the Surcin-Obrenovac highway.

The opening was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. In a conversation with representatives of the Chines company CCCC, which is also in charge of the construction of the section from Preljina to Pozega, Vucic was promised by the company's director, Zhang Xiaoyuan, that the highway would be built by the end of 2021.

The president said that the highway from Belgrade to Pozega would open in exactly two years.
