Sombor to set up digital base of investment locations on GeoSrbija platform

The City of Sombor has started setting up a digital base of investment locations on the digital platform GeoSrbija, with the support of the Republic Geodetic Authority, the Development Agency of Vojvodina and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

The preparation and the setting up of digital investment locations is the result of the activities on the project titled “Enhancement of the Business Environment in Serbia”, which aims to establish a model for the future National Register of Investment Locations. The said register will contribute to attracting investors, thereby aiding the economic development of local communities of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and the Republic of Serbia, the city site says.

– In the current phase of the project, the main goal is to list all the existing investment locations in Sombor, to gather all the available data and to examine the elements of development strategies of local self-government units in the sense of attracting investors. The ultimate objective of this project is to achieve a uniformity of investment locations in as many local self-governments as possible, thereby enabling a better insight into the investment potentials of towns and municipalities in the territory of the whole state – it is added.

In addition to setting up a uniform model, one of the main goals of the project is to build mechanisms for regular reporting, which would make the register sustainable and up-to-date. This way, the digital platform will become a tool for everyday work and promotion of investment potentials of local self-government units, but also a means for connecting them among themselves and with provincial and state institutions.

In addition to Sombor, the towns which are taking part in the first phase of the preparation of the digital platform of investment locations are Zrenjanin, Vranje, Pozarevac, Pirot, Knjazevac, Cuprija, Cacak, Bor, Arilje and Valjevo.
