The international airport in Prague will be expanded in order to meet the growing demand, as announced by Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis.

As he said, the Vaclav Havel Airport is planning to expand its Terminal 2, which is currently open for flights to the countries within the visa-free Schengen Area, and it will also build a new runway by 2028.

The costs are expected to amount to 55 billion Czech korunas (RSD 2.4 billion), and the number of passengers using the airport might grow to 30 million a year.

The airport was used by 16.8 million passengers last year, and the number is expected to grow to 17.7 million this year.

The expansion will also entail a rail connection between Prague and the airport, which should be completed in 2028, for an additional 44 billion korunas.
