Electricity bills to increase by 3.9% from December 1 – Price to remain unchanged for the industry
He told RTS that the Energy Agency had approved the price increase and specified that the implementation starts with December bills, which are sent in January.
The price of electricity for the industry will not increase, the minister said.
Antic said that electricity prices had not increased in more than two years.
– The most recent substantial increase took place in 2015, there were minimal increases in 2016 and 2017 and none in 2018 and 2019. Energy companies had justifiable demands and the share of RES is increasing, which comes with the costs of transferring that energy, but there's also the considerable increase in the price of electricity in the global market – the minister emphasized.
The increase, he claims, is far below the demands and the costs of energy companies.
– Even with that price, we have the cheapest electricity in the region. The price of electricity is 7.2% lower than in Macedonia, 18.9% compared to B&H, 24% compared to Albania, 35.8% compared to Bulgaria, 79.97% compared to Croatia, 85% compared to Romania, 125% compared to Slovenia – Antic said.
