After a successful beginning of the realization of the gondola projects on Cmiljaca and the Podvrh Monastery – Djalovica Pecina route, the Italian company Leitner intends to launch the project of the construction of a gondola system between Kotor and Njegusi. The company would self-finance the construction worth around EUR 20 million, according to the initial estimates.

This was announced by the prime minister of Montenegro, Dusko Markovic, and representatives of the Italian company Leitner, one of the world's leading producers of gondolas, ski lifts and air trams, it is said on the website of the Government of Montenegro.

The prime minister expressed his satisfaction with the operations of Leitner in Montenegro and said that both gondolas, as strategic projects financed by the government and built by Leitner, were being realized successfully thanks to the seriousness and dedication of the parent company, but also thanks to the choice of a good local partner.

– It is important for the government, which sets aside large amounts of money for the capital budget for strategic development projects, to have credible partners such as Leitner, which bring new quality and knowledge. The successful beginning of the realization of the previous two projects also recommends you for this one as well. That is why I was glad to learn of your interest in the project of the Kotor-Njegusi gondola, which you would carry out as a concession or a public-private partnership – the prime minister said.

The sales director and board member of the company, Martin Leitner, presented the preliminary design of the gondola to the prime minister and said, among other things, that they were planning to build Pininfarina cabins, like the ones they had built in Zermatt, Switzerland, to Matterhorn.

At the meeting, it was estimated that the project had a tourist dimension, but also ecological and cultural dimension, because it makes the country's tourist offer richer and improves the tourist position of Cetinje and the Lovcen National Park, while also creating conditions for reducing the traffic between Kotor and Njegusi.
