First Serbia Grain Conference to be held in Belgrade

The first Serbia Grain Conference will gather around 200 participants this Thursday, October 31, in Belgrade, and experts from this field will give their projections when it comes to the production of grains and oil plants in the world for the current year, but also discuss the exporting opportunities of Serbia, the quality of domestic grains and the Commodities Exchange in Serbia.

Branislav Nedimovic, the minister of agriculture, forestry and water management of Serbia, will open the conference, after which Emmanuel Hidier, a representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Miljan Zdrale, the director for Agribusiness for Central and Eastern Europe at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and Vukosav Sakovic, the president of the Serbian Grains association, will address the guests.

In the first part of the program, the participants will be introduced to projections and estimates of the production of grains and oil plants in the world for the current economic year, the latest trends in the world market, data on the amounts and the quality of exported wheat, corn, sunflower, soy and rapeseed in Serbia, as well as the country's exporting potentials.

In the second block of the conference, storage capacities and potentials and flaws of logistics in Serbia will be presented, and the conference will close with a lecture about the Commodities Exchange in Serbia.


Serbia Grain Conference 2019 will gather around 200 participants from the country and abroad, including representatives of national grain associations, the Serbian government and the relevant ministries, guests from the economy sector from international companies which operate in the sector of trade of grains and oil plants, as well as Serbian traders and exporters of grains and oil plants – members of the Serbian Grains association.

This is the first grains conference in Serbia, organized as part of a joint project by the Serbian Grains association, UN FAO and the EBRD, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia.
