Bechtel and Enka want more money for Morava Corridor – Contract in 10 days at the most?
– The extremely difficult negotiations with Bechtel-Enka are ongoing. We are not giving up on the estimated investment value, which is EUR 800 million. However the consortium is making different offers. We are not giving up on the set economic investment, as the Morava Corridor contains three projects – telecommunications, road corridor and the regulation of the Morava. The decision about who we will sign the contract with and how is expected to be made within the next ten days – Minister Mihajlovic stated.
The Morava Corridor will be around 110 kilometers long and connect Corridor 10 and Corridor 11, that is, an area with around 500,000 people.
– As soon as the commercial contract is signed, everything will be ready for the works to begin, as the expropriation of the land has been completed as well. This will connect Cacak, Kraljevo, Trstenik, Krusevac and Vrnjacka Banja and make for an economic connection between all the things that are the most important to us – Mihajlovic said.
The minister pointed out that, through the new investment plan, at least EUR 10 billion will be invested in road, rail and air traffic.
– At the moment, the most important section of Corridor 11 is the one between Preljina and Pozega and the completion deadline is 2021. We hope that this deadline will not need to be extended. The section is not easy at all, but it will be a turning point for everything we do in the future. After Pozega, we will start building sections to Sarajevo and then to Montenegro as well, which is the most demanding section financially, as it will require close to EUR 2 billion – Mihajlovic emphasized.
