Volkswagen postpones decision on building factory in Turkey – Opportunity for Serbia?
– In this environment, a decision in favor of the country can't be made – the concern says. An unnamed PR adds that VW is monitoring the situation.
For months, VW had been analyzing where to build the new facility in Southeast Europe, with Turkey ending up as an almost certain choice. The concern had even registered a sister company in the country.
The new facility, which should employ up to 4,000 people, should have been built near Izmir, and the investment would amount to 1.2 to 1.5 billion euros.
Serbia, along with other countries in the region, is one of the countries trying to attract this big investor.
