Largest wind farm in Western Balkans to open – Cibuk 1 near Kovin capable of supplying 113,000 households with electricity
This is the largest wind farm in Serbia and the Western Balkans, with 57 turbines and an installed power of 158 MW, the construction of which was completed this April, when the power plant started producing electricity as well.
As announced earlier, the investment of EUR 300 million was supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with credits amounting to a total of around EUR 215 million.
The Cibuk 1 wind farm can supply 113,000 households with electricity and prevent the emission of over 370,000 tons of carbon-dioxide a year.
Masdar is a global leader when it comes to renewable energy sources and sustainable urban development, and Cibuk 1 is its fourth wind farm in Europe.
