The head urban planner of Belgrade, Marko Stojcic, clarified today that the facades on the even-numbered side of Brankova Street had been repaired in 2019, and that the reconstruction of the facades on the other side of the street was planned for the next year. He specified that nearly five hundred facades had been repaired in the previous few years and that the plan was for as many to be repaired in the next period.

– The main idea is to get developed architectural units, especially in the parts with buildings raised between the two world wars, which are very important, architecturally. Their full architectural character can only be seen after the reconstruction – Stojcic pointed out, as reported by Beoinfo.

He reminds that buildings in Brankova Street are 70-80 years old and that the reconstruction of such facilities requires approval from the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments.

– We will try to develop all the important historical and cultural units, as well as tourist routes, in the city, so as to achieve the best effect possible – Stojcic said.

He said that this required considerable funds from the budget, as each facade requires the design and execution of original details, while many of them are protected or belong to protected architectural units.
