Finnish children’s hospital as model for Tirsova 2 – Modern look and digitization
The Government of Finland set aside EUR 186 million for this hospital. It provides the demanding specialized healthcare for children and is fully dedicated to them and their parents.
The experiences of this hospital when it comes to the construction of new facilities are used by experts from Zurich and Copenhagen.
The mayor was guided by the doctor Pekka Lahdenne, who had worked on the hospital’s preparation since 2012, introducing him to the spatial and technological capacities of the facility.
– Finland is a good example and it is important for us to follow it, as it is one of the countries which carry out these large projects in a rational, economical way – Radojicic said.
The New Children’s Hospital is based on a digital platform, which facilitates the movement of patients through the hospitals, provides patients with tablets in each room and allows the switch from paper documentation to digital data storage to be made.
Radojicic pointed out that the visit to Helsinki was a valuable experience for him, being aware of the responsibility related to the construction of Tirsova 2.
– I wanted to come here and meet the people who had worked on the project of the construction of this hospital and learn about the experiences we could follow, but also about the problems they had encountered, so that we could avoid them. I had the opportunity to tour the entire hospital and the first thing I noticed was the very modern look, without being megalomaniacal, allowing patients to orient very easily. I am impressed with the rational approach and the digitization and that’s what I want Tirsova 2 to have too.
Radojicic emphasized that the digital platform enabled patients and their families to get quicker and more thorough information about the treatment, while also allowing for better communication with the hospital staff. This reduces waiting times, while allowing the employees to be more efficient and productive.
– I am aware that the digitization is a long process and that it needs to be worked on constantly, but it is very important for Tirsova 2 to operate under the most modern conditions. It is thanks to this approach that the patients and their families are able to finish all the procedures so quickly at this hospital, whereas they take a long time in other hospitals. It is interesting that children are given a number and a cartoon hero image as the ID at this hospital – the mayor of Belgrade said.
The hospital in Helsinki is very successful globally when it comes to children’s urology. It is among the top hospitals in the world when it comes to the success rate in kidney transplants in children with urological anomalies.
