The reconstruction and electrification of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railway, a part of the railway Corridor 10, will begin by the end of 2019, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said in Dimitrovgrad, where she received a special award on the occasion of the Municipal Day.

She pointed out that the preparation of the reconstruction of the railway was going as planned, that the documentation had been completed and that a large number of public invitations had opened.

– It takes two and a half years to complete the electrification of the railway and the bypass route and the project of moving the railway from Nis center, which has been planned for nearly half a century – she said, as reported on the ministry’s website.

Talking about the Dimitrovgrad border crossing, which is of great importance for the city, Mihajlovic said that she advocated “the formation of a lane on the border crossing between the two countries”.

– We are having talks with our friends from Bulgaria about forming a special lane on the border crossing between the two states, for Serbian and Bulgarian citizens. I will give it my best to have this completed as soon as possible – she said.
