Chinese Yangfeng to start producing in Kragujevac in late 2019 – 200 new jobs planned
A world leader in the field of car interiors will produce interior car components at its new facility in Kragujevac, the announcement says.
Initially, there will be 200 new jobs. Considering that the facility is designed for 800 employees, the number of workers will gradually increase year after year. This is the company’s first factory in Serbia.
Good infrastructure and the availability of qualified workers in Kragujevac and its environment were the key factors in choosing this location.
– With the new factory in Serbia, we are expanding our production capacities in the markets of Eastern Europe, reacting to the increasing presence of our clients in the region – said Tony Elenbaas, the vice president and the general manager of the company for Europe and South Africa.
Other factors which influenced the location choice are the central position of Kragujevac in Southeast and Central Europe and the proximity of other factories of Yangfeng Automotive Interiors in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Yangfeng Automotive Interiors is a world leader in the production of car interiors. Headquartered in Shanghai, the company has around 110 production facilities and technical centers in 20 countries and more than 32,000 employees worldwide, who design, develop and produce interior component for all car producers.
The company was founded in 2015 as a joint company of Yangfeng, one of the biggest suppliers in the auto industry, and Adient, a world leader in the production of car seats. Today, it’s a large global network which stretches from the USA, through Europe and South Africa, to Asia and the Pacific, the press release says.
Let us remind that it has already been reported that, in addition to the Yangfeng facility, Kragujevac will get another factory. This July, the construction of a new facility of the Spanish car component manufacturer Teknia started as well. Teknia previously bought the company Promotor IRVA in Kragujevac, a producer of car lifts. It has been operating for years now at the facilities of the former Zastava factory “21. oktobar”.
