Golija peak soon to be accessible by road – Modern traffic route being built, aiming to top Ibar Main Road

Due to the lack of roads, some parts of the Municipality of Ivanjica across the most beautiful parts of the Golija mountain used to be accessible only from the direction of Novi Pazar or Raska, but this will change beginning with this August, as road sections are being prepared for the peak of Golija to be accessible by traffic routes.

Local residents had to be resourceful to reach this destination, but they will now be provided with a modern traffic route which will reach the peak of Golija and which is said to be even more advanced than the Ibar Main Road.

The construction of this traffic route, which is 16 kilometers long and six meters wide, is being carried out by Putevi Novi Pazar and Putevi Ivanjica.

Ibro Skrijelj, the director of Putevi Novi Pazar, says that the earth works on their side are being completed.

– On our side, we are working on around eight kilometers and we should soon begin the final works. The works are a little late due to the adverse weather conditions between April and July, but we hope to complete everything within the deadline – Skrijelj said.

The director of Putevi Ivanjica, Stojan Rangelov, pointed out that, on the Ivanjica side, the majority of the works is being done on the section between Golijska Reka and Preko Brdo.

– Earth works are currently being carried out on the section between Golijska Reka and Preko Brdo. Around five thousand cubic meters have been excavated so far and the subgrade has been reinforced. The asphalting could start in late August, whereas the majority of these works are expected to be carried out in September and early October. The works are going as planned for now and we hope that we will complete the planned section in October – Rangelov pointed out.
