Beogradske Elektrane to get heating energy from Vinca – Construction of heating pipeline and exchange station in 2020

The PE Beogradske Elektrance has become a part of a large investment project within the construction of the waste treatment facility in Vinca.

The company's job is to build the infrastructure for the taking of the heating energy produced at the cogeneration facility within the sanitary landfill complex, stated the director of Beogradske Elektrane, Rade Basta.

The realization of this project was announced for eKapija by Marko Milacic, the director of Suez Vinca Operator d.o.o, the company founded for the purpose of the realization of the project contracted in the autumn of 2017 between the City of Belgrade and the consortium Beo Cista Energija, consisting of France's Suez Groupe SAS and Japan's Itochu I-Environment.

The agreement on the buyout of heating energy was signed between Beo Cista Energija and the PE Beogradske Elektrane as part of the the French president's visit to Serbia. Under the agreement on the public-private partnership for the management of the sanitary landfill Vinca, the City of Belgrade obliges to build the infrastructure for the taking of heating energy.

– The City of Belgrade has transferred this obligation to Beogradske Elektrane, which will finance the construction of the pre-pumping heat exchange station within the Vinca complex, the construction of the heating pipeline of around 9 kilometers and the construction of the pre-pumping heat exchange station at the Konjarnik heating plant from its own funds – Basta told Tanjug.

The value of the investment is EUR 23.5 million. The project entails the distribution of heating energy to the consumers currently supplied by the Konjarnik heating plant. Basta says that the production capacity at the Konjarnik heating plant would be expanded by 56.5 MW.

– This means that the company will be able to expand the heating system to the areas without any distribution infrastructure, with the possibility of having new users connected to the remote heating system – he clarified.

Basta says that this investment will benefit Beogradske Elektrane, the users and the state. He said that the estimate was that the costs for the purchase of imported natural gas would reduce by EUR 2 million annually for Beogradske Elektrane.

The plan is for the works to start in 2020, and the investment will be realized within a two-year period.
