The City of Belgrade will revoke the ownership of the land in Block 44 from the company which leased it to build an aqua park there, which it has failed to do, Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic announced and added that the purpose would remain the same and that an aqua park would certainly be built there.

Vesic said that the land had been leased to the company in question 15 years before, but that the company had gone into bankruptcy, Beoinfo reports.

As he said, the city will revoke the ownership in the upcoming period, in line with the law, and pay back the company the money it paid for the lease at the time. He added that there had been an initiative five years before for the location to be turned into residential space, but that the processes had been stopped, as the competent city authorities wanted an aqua park to be built there.

– Belgrade needs an aqua park, so we will take that location, open a tender and finally solve this problem – Vesic said in his conversation with residents of Block 44.

He added that an aqua park would make that part of the city more attractive and pointed out that there were companies interested in building the facility, as it was not a job that the city could do itself.
