Reconstruction of Clinical Center of Serbia with the use of most modern technologies – Eighth floor of the new tower being built
As Slavoljub Korcakoski, the CEO of Delta Inzenjering, the main contractor in this project, told eKapija, the first phase of the works on the reconstruction of this health institution is in progress.
– Under the contract, 27,000 m2 of new space should be built within the first phase, which also entails a full reconstruction of 59,000 m2 of the existing facility. We are currently building a new tower, but also strengthening the reinforced concrete structures, along with carrying out basic thermal and electrical installations – Korcakoski told our portal.
The new tower, with an area of 27,000 m2, will be aligned with the old one, and, as our interviewee says, the eighth of the total of 10 floors is being built.
– Also, we are strengthening the existing concrete construction on the old facility. The building is 40 years old and was no longer serving its purpose. On the one hand, it didn't meet seismology regulations, while on the other, the existing structure also needed to be reconstructed to meet the demands and features a modern hospital should have. The old facade is getting disassembled, and we should start building a new one this autumn – Korcakoski says.
In addition to changing the reinforced concrete structure, the reconstruction of the old tower will include a full renovation of the interior, namely, new operating rooms, treatment rooms, air conditioning and machine and electrical systems which will be able to support the operations of a modern facility.
– We are using the most modern materials and technologies available at the moment in this area, if not in Europe. In addition to steel, the concrete structure is also reinforced with carbon elements. Also, the entire building will be highly energy-efficient, as per the project – eKapija's interviewee says.
The company is also building the access road between the Emergency Center and the Clinical Center of Serbia. This will allow for regular traffic in this part of the city. Initially, the new road will be used for an easier access to the construction site, as the streets around the Clinical Center of Serbia are very narrow, making it difficult for heavy mechanization to access the construction site.
The deadline for the completion of works on the Clinical Center of Serbia is August 6, 2021, after which the plan is for the future polyclinic to move into the new premises, so that the second phase of the works could start. As announced earlier, after a full reconstruction and construction of new facilities, the Clinical Center of Serbia will have a new Emergency Center, a renovated Polyclinic, expanded laboratories, 930 hospital beds, 200 beds in intensive care units and 30 operating rooms, among other features.
In addition to the building of the Clinical Center of Serbia, which, as Korcakoski says, is a capital project for them, Delta Inzenjering also cooperates with numerous investors.
– We are working on projects with Elektroprivreda Srbije, and then there are our Chinese partners, Srbijagas... We aim to keep developing our cooperation with these partners, to constantly improve our services and products so as to be as competitive as possible, to the satisfaction of our investors – Korcakoski says in his interview with eKapija.
