Highway section of 5 km to Croatian border to be completed by July 1

Serbian Construction Minister Zorana Mihajlovic took a tour of the construction site for the reconstruction of the Batrovci-Kuzmin highway and announced that five kilometers of the highway from the Croatian border to Kuzmin would be completed by July 1.

– This is a very important section for us and we have waited for a long time for the reconstruction of this section of the highway to begin. Today, I talked to the contractors and the investor about the work schedule, as I am not satisfied with the pace of the works, which needs to be increased. We are looking at the summer season, there are increasingly more cars passing through Serbia and today we discussed the way that the PE Roads of Serbia would regulate the toll collection and the large number of vehicles on roads – Mihajlovic stated.

She added that the five-kilometer section would be completed by July 1 and that she was assured by the contactors that the works would be completed within the deadline, by November 15, the ministry says.

Zoran Drobnjak said that the works were being carried out on both sides of the highway.

Mitar Vukovic said that the company Integral was doing everything in its power to have the works completed by November 15, as per the contract. The director of the project, Mile Dzatic, added that the company had increased the capacities of active workers and mechanization and that the works were being carried out in two shifts, from 5 am through 9 pm.

The works on the 21.6-km Batrovci-Kuzmin section are worth EUR 16.5 million.
