Agreements which will enable the export of pork and dairy products to the Chinese market, as well as the memorandum on cooperation in exporting and importing food products and food safety, were signed today in Belgrade by Serbian Agriculture Minister Branislav Nedimovic and the Vice Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China, Zhang Jiwen.

Minister Nedimovic said that what remained to be done was to sign an agreement on phytosanitary protection. He expects the first Chinese inspection to take place in the upcoming months and that Serbian products will become available on the Chinese market by the end of the year, the Ministry of Agriculture says in a press release.

He emphasized that the expected this to take place by the Shanghai agriculture fair, held in November.

– The signing of these documents is a strategic thing for Serbia in the field of agriculture, due to the opening of the Chinese market to pork and dairy products – Nedimovic told the press after the signing.

He says that the opening of the Chinese market was what Serbian producers wanted and points out that the next step is for him to inform his Chinese colleagues about which companies from Serbia are interested in exporting.
