Second Mei Ta factory opens in Obrenovac, EUR 90 million invested – Construction of third facility planned
Mei Ta invested a total of EUR 150 million in the two factories in Obrenovac, the state invested 35% of the total amount, and Mali told the press after taking a tour of the new factory that Mei Ta employed 2,400 workers in the first factory and 400 in the second one at the moment and added that it needed another 1,000 workers, the Government of Serbia says on its website.
– There’s a need for quality workforce in Obrenovac, and only a couple of years ago, the unemployment rate in Obrenovac was among the highest ones – Mali said.
Analyses have shown that the subsidies provided by the state to such companies pay off in a year to a year and a half through wage taxes and contributions, the minister said.
Mali also said that there had been an increase in the number of order requests to Mei Ta.
– This pertains to Porsche, BMW, Toyota, Mercedes and Ford and the company’s turbo chargers, and their annual production is three million, whereas the products are exported with the “Made in Serbia”, which I’m proud of – Mali says and adds that a third factory is being considered.
While visiting the new Mei Ta factory, the minister was accompanied by Mayor of Belgrade Zoran Radojicic, the president of the municipality of Obrenovac, Miroslav Cuckovic, and the acting director of EPS, Milorad Grcic.
