Huawei presents its operating system Hongmeng – To be available to users outside China in early 2020

Huawei has presented its new operating system Hongmeng, an alternative to Google's Android. As The Wall Street Journal reports, the Chinese giant had counted on the recent developments and assured its users not to worry, as it was developing its own operating system.

The name of Hongmeng has already been officially registered and protected at the National Intellectual Property Protection Office of China. However, as the newspaper reports, convincing consumers to change their habits has proven to be very difficult and often unsuccessful countless times.

Huawei executive Richard Yu said that the new operating system would be ready for users in China by the end of 2019 and in early 2020 for everybody else, RTS reports. The biggest obstacle is creating a so-called ecosystem, which would provide a fertile ground for the development of user apps.

Analysts believe that Huawei users in China will potentially adapt to the new system more easily, but that it's not likely to happen with users outside China, who are well used to Google's app system.
