Construction of Preljina-Pozega highway section begins – Investment worth EUR 450 million, works to be completed in two and a half years
The contractor is China Communications Construction Company, which has already prepared the workers’ camp near Lucani for around 200 workers, and the works should be completed in two and a half years.
The Preljina-Pozega section will be a part of the Belgrade-South Adriatic highway of the total length of 258 kilometers, but also a part of the future Belgrade-Sarajevo highway, as the plan is for around 60 kilometers more to be built from Pozega to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The section, which will feature three tunnels, 32 bridges, 11 overpasses and three interchanges, will connect Cacak, Lucani and Pozega and two districts, the Moravica District and the Zlatibor District.
The Cacak section of the highway will be 15.5 kilometers long, which will feature two of the three large interchanges, and Corridor 10 and Corridor 11 will be connected near Cacak by the Morava Corridor.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic attended the marking of the beginning of the works and pointed out that the finished highway would shorten the trip between Belgrade and Cacak by around an hour before the end of 2019 and that Obrenovac and Cacak would be connected by highway as soon as late June.
Vucic pointed out that better roads and infrastructure contributed to a better business climate and attracting investors to that part of Serbia. He announced that the civil-military airport Ladjevci near Kraljevo would open for traffic soon.
