MIHAJLOVIC: Construction of Preljina-Pozega highway section to begin on May 17

The works on the construction of the Preljina-Pozega section on Corridor 11 will begin on May 17, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic announced today.

At a press conference regarding the agreements and memorandums signed at the second Belt and Road forum, Mihajlovic said that, among other things, the financial agreement on the construction of this section, worth EUR 450 million, was signed in Beijing.

– This section, 30.9 kilometers long, is important when it comes to connecting Serbia with the region, as we will not only connect with Montenegro but will also continue building the highway toward Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the new investment cycle which starts this year, worth over EUR 5 billion, Serbia will be well covered by highways – said Mihajlovic, who visited the works on the construction of sector B of the bypass route around Belgrade, from Ostruznica to Bubanj Potok.

She reminded that the memorandum regarding the realization of the Belgrade Subway project, the memorandum for the construction of sector C of the bypass route around Belgrade, from Bubanj Potok to Pancevo, as well as the financial agreement on the construction of the Novi Sad-Subotica section of the Belgrade-Budapest railway, had also been signed in Beijing.

– I expect the agreement on the Novi Sad-Subotica to be put before the parliament in May, and we aim to start the works by the end of the year – Mihajlovic said.
