Q1 exports from Serbia higher by 6.9%, imports increase by 9% compared to 2018
The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for the period January - March 2019 amounted to EUR 9.63 billion, which was an increase of 8.1% compared to the same period 2018.
The deficit amounted to EUR 1.44 billion, which was an increase of 15.6% compared to the same period last year.
The export - import ratio equaled 74% and was lower if compared to the same period last year when it was 75.4%.
The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which Serbia has signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 63.8% of total external trade.
Serbia’s main foreign trade partners were Germany, Italy, B&H, Romania and Russia, when it comes to exports, and Germany, Russia, China, Italy and Hungary, when it comes to imports. The country’s second major partner refers to the CEFTA countries, since the gained surplus in external trade amounted to USD 487.8 million, resulting mainly from the exports of agricultural products (cereals and produces thereof), road vehicles, iron and steel, electrical machines and devices and oil and oil derivatives.
