Srbijagas buys Bijeljina-gas – Completion of Bijeljina gasification project and expansion in the region planned
Stevanovic, who is also an adviser to the director of Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic, for the company’s investments in Republika Srpska and B&H, told Srna that this confirmed the strength of the bonds between Republika Srpska and Serbia in the energy sector as well.
– Srbijagas intends to complete the Bijeljina gasification project very quickly, and the company has a long-term strategy that entails the expansion of the operations in the region – Stevanovic said, Nezavisne reports.
According to him, so far, 80% of Bijeljina-gas has been owned by Novi Sad-gas and 20% by the Town of Bijeljina.
– The partner from Novi Sad has been experiencing difficulties when it comes to funding the project in the past three to four years, and they also had some debts towards Srbijagas, so Srbijagas practically bought Bijeljina-gas for a part of those debts – Stevanovic said.
He added that a new management had already been appointed in Bijeljina-gas and that a Managing Board had been formed with one representative of Bijeljina and four representatives of Srbijagas. Stevanovic also announced that the new director of Bijeljina-gas, Blazenka Mandic, would take over the running of the company in a few days.
The value of the gasification project in Bijeljina is EUR 30 million.
