Coca-Cola consumers turning to bottled water
According to the latest quarterly report, Coca-Cola had an income of RSD 8 billion in the first months of 2019, an increase by 5% compared to the same period in 2018, but the sale of Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero grew only slightly. Their coffee and tea brands are also stagnating.
On the other hand, they reported that the sale of their water and mineral water brands, Smartwater and Vitaminwater, had grown by as much as 6%. They are now trying to attract consumers with flavored waters, new formulas and low-sugar drinks, Jutarnji List reports.
This is hardly new, however. Bottled water sales exceeded the sales of soft drinks back in 2016, according to the Beverage Marketing Corporation.
A year later, bottled water sales in the U.S.A. had grown by 8.8% compared to 2016 to USD 18.5 billion.
