Memorandums signed with China on continuation of highway construction
Mihajlovic said that the memorandums, the signing of which was attended by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, were important for creating the possibility of completing Corridor 11, the competent ministry announced.
– The first of the two memorandums we signed in Dubrovnik pertains to the most demanding section on the entire Corridor 11 through Serbia, both financially and in terms of construction, the Pozega-Boljare highway project, to the Montenegrin border. The second memorandum pertains to the New Belgrade-Surcin section and is important because it should enable the full functioning of Corridor 11. I expect to have a commercial agreement within the next month, for the documentation to be prepared and for the works to begin next year – Mihajlovic said.
She reminded that, in 2019, 103 kilometers of the Obrenovac-Preljina highway were to open for traffic, that the works on the Preljina-Pozega section were to begin and that the works on the Surcin-Obrenovac section, one of the most active construction sites in Serbia, should be completed before the end of the year.
Talking about the relations of Serbia and China, Mihajlovic said that Serbia was a great example of 16+1, the mechanism of cooperation of China and CEE countries.
– We're not only talking good friendly and political relations of Serbia and China, but also the excellent economic relations, the developed cooperation in the field of infrastructure and also the increasingly better relations in tourism. Dubrovnik is another opportunity for us to show this, and the upcoming forum in Beijing will be an even better opportunity, because financial agreements on the projects we are beginning to realize will be signed there, namely, the construction of the Preljina-Pozega highway, worth EUR 450 million, and the construction of the Novi Sad-Subotica high-speed railway section, worth nearly a billion euros – Mihajlovic said.
Mihajlovic and Wen Gang, a vice president of China Communications Construction Company, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the highway project, section New Belgrade-Surcin, and the minister signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the project of the Belgrade-South Adriatic highway, E-763, section Pozega-Boljare, with the president of CRBC, Lu Shan.
Before the signing, the delegation of the Government of Serbia had meetings with the delegations of several Chinese companies on the sidelines of the 16+1 Summit.
