Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday (April 5, 2019) that soon the government would pass a “lex specialis” as a solution for citizens indebted in Swiss francs.

During the visit to Belgrade Waterfront, Vucic told the press that the law should be enacted in the following days and weeks.

The banks will bear the majority of the burden, however, the government will shoulder a part of the responsibility, Vucic said.

He added that “we must not forget this situation into which the irresponsible authorities brought the citizens.”

Vucic had previously met with the representatives of Association of citizens indebted in Swiss loans “CHF Srbija”.

– With the full support and hard work of the Serbian Ministry of Finance, National Bank of Serbia and CHF Serbia representatives we made a significant step in harmonizing our points of view and reaching a solution to this problem, Vucic said in an official statement.
