Many people pick the destinations to travel to by photos they’ve seen online, which delight them so much with their architecture or natural wonders that they can barely wait to take selfies there. However, some of the most popular world destinations prohibit the taking of selfies, Mashable reports.

Mecca:

The law is to maintain a peaceful environment for worshippers.

Westminster Abbey:

The church would like to “retain the sacred and intimate atmosphere of the building.”

The Sistine Chapel:

According to Conde Nast Traveler, the act of taking photographs has been illegal since 1980.

The Alamo:

Photos outside are fine, but inside is a “no selfie” zone.

Mumbai Beachfronts:

Numerous selfie-related deaths prompted officials to ban the act.

The Pentagon:

The risk of a security breach is just too high.

The Taj Mahal:

It’s considered disrespectful to the dead.

The Statue of David:

The Accademia Gallery strictly prohibits it.

The Van Gogh Museum:

The rule was adopted to keep other museum-goers from being annoyed.

Buckingham Palace:

However, you can head to the garden and take selfies to your heart’s content.
