CMEC and Siemens sign agreement on fire protection system at TPP Kostolac – Project worth EUR 5 million
The agreement, which is worth EUR 5 million, entails the design, the procurement, the delivery, the installation, the testing and the commissioning of the fire protection system at the new block at the TPP. This will enable a timely supervision of all subsystems and provide additional security and safety at the TPP, it was said at the signing.
The acting director of EPS, Milorad Grcic, said that it was another step towards the realization of the project.
For EPS, this is very important, as the 350-MW block B3 is the first large capacity for the production of electrical energy built in nearly three decades. With the value of USD 613 million, it is also one of the largest investment projects currently realized in Serbia.
The deputy director at China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), Tong Zigang, said that the fire protection system was very important and that the company was therefore very careful in choosing the contractor, picking Siemens after a detailed research, as the German company has remarkable achievements in this field.
The CEO of Siemens Serbia, Udo Eichlinger, pointed out that it was a very important contract. He added that it was the second project that Siemens had contracted with the Chinese partner.
He added that, for EPS and Siemens, this was a continuation of the strategic cooperation, already proven through the realization of several projects that were very complex. He also thanked representatives of EPS and CMEC for their trust and added that, after the system is installed, they would enable the supervision of all the subsystems at the TPP.
