Construction of apartments for members of security forces begins
At the same time, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic marked the beginning of the construction of 186 apartments in Vranje.
The first phase of the project entails the construction of a total of 8,022 apartments in Vranje, Nis, Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Novi Sad, Sremska Mitrovica and Belgrade.
The value of the construction of apartments in Vranje is RSD 746.7 million, whereas the Nis part of the project is worth RSD 799.2 million.
The agreement with the contractor, the consortium of Tasyapi and Milenijum, was signed on December 19, 2018, and the deadline period for the works is one year.
The decision to have apartments built for security force members was based on a survey which covered all interested members of the security sector: the Ministry of Defense, the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security-Information Agency and the Ministry of Justice – the Administration for the Enforcement of Penal Sanctions.
In November, the government reached the decision on the founding of 7 SPVs for the project, namely, Avala Belgrade, Ibar Kraljevo, Pcinja Vranje, Tisa Novi Sad, Dunav Novi Sad, Lepenica Kragujevac and Sava Sremska Mitrovica.
The apartments will range between 32 and 92 sqm.
On May 25, the National Assembly of Serbia adopted a lex specialis enabling the construction of the said apartments at subsidized prices, no higher than EUR 500 per square meter.
