The Minister of Infrastructure of Serbia, Milutin Mrkonjić, asked on Friday (May 29, 2009) the two companies that built the highway section between Bukurevac and Macedonian border, 11.4 km long, to finish that job prior to July 7, 2009.

On the occasion of the visit to that section of Corridor 10 in the south of Serbia, Mrkonjić asked the contractors - "Preduzeće za puteve Beograd" and "Putevi Užice" - to make the border crossing with Macedonia completely ready prior to July 7th, that is, before the beginning of the tourist season.

The State Secretary for Infrastructure, Aleksandar Cvetanović, said to the press that 20 kilometers of right highway lanes should be finished prior to July 7th, while the left lanes should be built in the second phase, prior to June 2010.

According to his words, 2.8 billion RSD from the republic budget have been set aside for the right highway lanes, half of which have already been spent, while 1.2 billion RSD should be provided for the construction of 700 meters of road in both direction alongside the Macedonian border.

Cvetanović added that the foreign investors were expected to provide additional 1.2 billion RSD for construction of that part of Corridor 10, as well as that the negotiations about that were close to end.
