Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin and Chief of the General Staff of Serbia Milan Mojsilovic officially opened the heliport of the Military-Medical Academy today. The heliport has been operational since January 1.

Vulin said that the medical institution facility can now handle all types of helicopters at all times and in all weather conditions, Fonet reports.

This way, as he explained, the patients have been provided with a valuable service, while the Serbian Armed Forces have gotten a new function.

The minister thanked the director of the Civil Aviation Directorate, Mirjana Cizmarov, for the great donation of RSD 25 million, adding that all the funds for infrastructural works on the heliport had been provided by the donation and not from the budget.

According to him, the heliport is available 24 hours a day to all citizens and not just to the SAF.

Talking about the importance of the newly built facility, Air Force and Air Defense Commander Dusko Zarkovic pointed out that the conditions for the accommodation of the flight crew, the internal service and the ambulance staff and people transported by helicopter had now been secured.
