The new cycle of investments in the infrastructure of Serbia begins in 2019 and is worth EUR 5 billion, stated Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic, announcing the completion of Corridor 10 by mid-2019 at the latest.

– The construction of the Preljina-Pozega section on Corridor 11, worth EUR 450 million is sure to start. We also expect the beginning of the construction of the Morava Corridor, worth EUR 800 million, as well as the reconstruction of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railway, worth EUR 246 million, the modernization of the Novi Sad-Subotica railway, worth EUR 924 million, but also the 38-km section of the Nis-Plocnik highway, worth EUR 220 million in the first phase alone – Mihajlovic told Beta and added that EUR 200 million had been set aside for investments in water transport.

Talking about the completion of Corridor 10, Mihajlovic said that the section through the Grdelica Gorge was being treated. She said that she expected this section to be completed by mid-2019.

As she added, the project-technical documentation for the Morava Corridor has been prepared, and the agreement on the construction of this highway, estimated at EUR 800 million, has been signed with the US company Bethel. The project will be partially financed from the 2019 budget.

According to her, the documentation for the Fruska Gora Corridor is ready as well, and the finalization of the financial model for that project can be expected in 2019.

The other projects she mentioned are the 20-km road between Ruma and Sabac and a high-speed route of 50 km between Sabac and Loznica, a project involving the Azerbaijani company Azvirt. There’s also the project of the modernization of the Belgrade-Budapest railway and the reconstruction and the electrification of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railway which involves the European Investment Bank and is worth EUR 264 million.

Mihajlovic reminded that the section between Resnik and Valjevo, 77 kilometers long, on the Belgrade-Bar railway, had been reconstructed and that the plan was for the documentation for the route between Valjevo and the Montenegrin border to be completed in 2019, also to be financed from the budget.
