HealthCare Europe in Ruma to start building a third facility – Penultimate phase of construction in Industrial Zone to cost around EUR 10 million

The construction of the third production facility of HealthCare Europe, a Chinese-Danish company which produces memory foam and which will invest over EUR 10 million in the Industrial Zone in Ruma. This investor has been operating in Serbia for three years and has realized two of the four announced phases of this project. It currently employs 600 workers, and it will employ at least another 300 workers.

As announced, with the completion of the third phase, the factory which produces mattresses, toppers and memory foam pillows will get another hall in 2019, in addition to the two existing ones, and the production will be carried out on 70,000 sqm.

– The so called earth works have already been completed and we are still waiting for some permits. This year, we finished the second facility on 10,000 sqm, and when we complete all four phases we announced when we started operating in Ruma, we will be one of the biggest factories in Serbia – says the director of HealthCare Europe and the representative of the investor, Aleksandar Podravac. He adds that as much as 98% of what's produced is meant for export, that is, the European and the US market.

The investor got the first 5.6 hectares without a fee, based on the study of the feasibility of the alienation of building land and in line with the plan for the employment of 225 workers. It very soon turned out that this amount of land would not be sufficient, so they bought an additional 3.2 hectares.

– The value of our production this year reaches EUR 25 million, and we expect the amount to be doubled as soon as next year. We have many reasons to be satisfied, but we are continuing with investments and the expansion of capacities, because it is our goal to increase the profit further – Podravac says and reminds that all four phases of the investment cycle will cost around EUR 50 million, with the employment of as many as 1,200 people.

The new job contest has already started, and the company has organized transport for the employees from other, primarily neighboring municipalities.

The company's facility in China takes up 400,000 sqm. In the past few years, they have strengthened their position in China through the launch of a new brand called Mlily, and Podravac announces that a part of the production for the EU market will be moved to Ruma.

HealthCare Europe was founded in 2012 in Novi Sad, as a result of a joint investment of Denmark's EverRest and China's HealthCare, a global leader in the production of memory foam.
